John sees that the device in the lab has been recently calibrated. (Mutie is also present.) John is directed to examine the monitor. The monitor is showing his old neighborhood, and a large red Betty Crocker factory. The date is a few months before John was born. (December 1st, 1995) He zooms in and sees a gentleman walking with his elderly mother. A target has been locked over the old woman. We get a slight change of angle and see that a meteor is heading straight for the building. It destroys the building, and John is directed to press the blue button.
This creates a Paradox Ghost Imprint of the elderly woman whom John realizes is his grandmother. The slime is sucked into a nearby container. The next direction is “switch four.” This monitor displays an image of a distant island in the Pacific on the date of December 3rd, 1995. (It is of course Jade’s island.) John is directed to zoom in. He sees an elderly billionaire on a yacht, and an adorable toddler. This monitor is also locked and there is also a target on the elderly billionaire. Continue reading
We see Rose and the renamed Viceroy Bubbles von Salamancer who are standing on the alchemiter. We also see a Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff panel reading: shit. lets be santa Rose is directed to combine a number of items. She creates a toy for the Viceroy, a completely useless bronzed vacuumbrella, a useful handsfree computing device and numerous other devices. Then the house is attacked by various monsters and she defends herself with recently alchemized weapons.
Meanwhile, Jade is directed to build. She is also still asleep. Continue reading
On GA’s monitor, We see the previous conversation that GA had with John, who was pretending to be Rose (badly). With the viewport now on, GA is able to see Rose for the first time.
Rose is directed to examine the laptop. Rose sees the little interaction between John and GA. Her next direction is to go and find John. Rose takes note of phenomena she already knows the reason for, which we are informed by the narrative, is a silly thing to do. What is even sillier is that despite Rose noticing the door was ajar, and also knowing John likes playing pranks, she still opened the door. The bucket that had been propped up there lands on her. The contents of the bucket were Hellacious Blue Aneurysm Gushers. Rose’s prankster’s gambit sinks to an all-time low as a result. Continue reading
This is a not-quite-random list of a few favorite web comics. A few are pretty long running and may be familiar with the reader.
Gunnerkrigg Court, by Tom Siddell
This is a continuing web comic that is a blend of fantasy and science fiction. The heroine of the comic is a girl named Antimony Carver who ends up at a boarding school that is a strange combination of Hogwarts and Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. The school is in a state of cold war with a nearby enchanted forest, which is how a great deal of the plot is generated.
I recently got a new Examiner Title: Phoenix Web Comic Examiner. This article was thrown together mostly so I would have an first article. Currently working on a Homestuck article. (Feel free to suggest web comics I should be reading.)
John explores Rose’s room. He avoids his present, due to a strange feeling of guilt. He also receives a peculiar keysmash pester from Dave, which he disregards. The next command is for John to look at a book. The book is a collection of poetry and philosophy supposedly written by Charles Barkley. John is directed to take the book, which he does. He’s then directed to open his present.
It’s a bunny. A Frankenbunny who is half plush, half knit.
You can probably guess what the next directions are.
Rose also enclosed a letter to John. It is a very sentimental letter! Continue reading
From hereto here.
We cut briefly to a scene where John is heading off in his rocket pack. Below the image is another image of John with the caption THIS IS STUPID.
Then Rose pesters Dave. This is a repeat of the request she made during her conversation with Jade. Then we see Future Rose preparing for her nap, though she isn’t certain she’ll be able to drop off automatically. The next direction is for Future Dream Rose to cease to exist, which she does. The next point is an [S] command. Future Rose falls asleep. Continue reading
